Leading Learning
The overarching theme which evolved from all the learnings this semester is that adult learners can embed reflective practice throughout every day life in order to grow professionally.
By reflecting on and engaging in conversations individuals are more inclined to participate, self direct and "pull" knowledge anyhow and anywhere (Hagel and Seely Brown, 2005). Key learning areas such as andragogy, experiential learning, non-formal learning, informal learning, self directed learning and reflective practices have particularly shaped thinking for future endeavors.
My main concerns are: how do we create authentic learning experiences for young people? how do we educate young people about being responsible for their own learning? So that ultimately, they appreciate and value learning as an adult. By employing learning practices such as e-learning portfolios (to document thinking, to connect with others, to start conversations) learning goals set earlier in the semester have and will continue to evolve. Leading by example, embedding and demonstrating to others the capabilities of such key learning pedagogies I hope to enact behavioral change within future contexts.
