Portfolio Based Learning
How do we know that students are developing the skills and knowledge to meet the outcomes set by the curriculum as well as developing general capabilities needed once they leave school? Many have tried testing more, many have tried grading more. I don't believe they are the answer.
Understanding that outcomes, general capabilities and learning are more important than just rote learning content for a test I embedded portfolio based learning and evidence based learning in Stage 5 Commerce, Year 10 Parati and throughout other KLA areas.
Important documentation tools led by their learning and development, students can use the portfolios as key tools to demonstrate their knowledge and capabilities within the College Community or for external purposes. Eg. Whether it be for discussions with parents, gaining feedback from their teachers or using as a body of work for future opportunities.
Also, an opportunity to create a contemporary learning environment with instant feedback, creating opportunities to collaborate and show others what they are capable of.
