Case Study: Mobile Learning and Connectivism

Ultimate Question: How do we educate primary/high school learners about being responsible and authentic with ‘Mobile Learning’ and ‘Connectivism” so that mobile devices, blogs, social media are seen as key learning tools as an adult?

Context

On the 29th or April, 2016 a focus group was conducted where forty Year Eleven students discussed current learning pedagogies within the classroom. All forty students believed that mobile learning and connectivism was not allowed in the classroom. Students believed that it was common within all schools within Australia to outlaw the use of mobile devices and social media.

Hence the question:

Do primary and secondary institutions need to rethink mobile learning and connectivism in order to create more authentic adult learning experiences it the future?
