Research

There has been much attention made by media and the government about the quality and effectiveness of teachers in NSW. Amongst other research, The ACER report on "Staff in Australia's Schools (SiAS) survey of teachers and school leaders", provides evidence schools must address in order to improve the effectiveness of teachers.

Studies by Herrington and Kervin (2007), characterise effective teachers as being those with cognitive flexibility. The ability and willingness to implement a variety of pedagogies to create authentic learning for students within and outside of the classroom. A strong commitment to stewardship within the teaching profession, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues to build resources and raise the standards to exceed expectations.
Working with colleagues and their professional development journeys can be difficult, especially with the increasing importance of technology, the heavy workloads and administration teachers need to deal with. Understanding the desires of many teachers wanting to grow and develop whilst on the job, my aim is to create opportunities for teachers to undertake professional development opportunities as a part of their everyday job rather than feel like an added burden to their already busy lives.
