Excited by nearing the completion of a Masters in Learning and Leadership the following reflections were made:
Main objectives for the remainder of the Masters of Learning and Leadership Course:
1. Continue to explore avenues for conversation and research about core skills, enacting learning and breaking through educational constructs to better prepare students for industry and work. May come in the forms of working with industry, working across the different educational levels, reading more and continual conversations with leaders in education. This will be a part of the idea formulation and review process for future professional challenges.
2. Continue to lead by example. Be seen as a positive and enthusiastic learning professional and be able to influence change. Create test cases for change that others will appreciate. This can be easily be done with new or established ICT strategies. Be seen to propose solutions rather than more questions. This will be test cases where I can practise the conversations I will need to perfect when trying to implement a large project such as the ShareOnesLeearning.
3. Build relationships with various stakeholders to ensure that I am able to consult with realistic, up to date, considerate and effective ideas.
Areas I would like to focus on during the "Navigating Policy" subject include:
Workforce Skills Policy http://businesschamber.com.au/Advocacy/Policy/Skill
Transition from school to work http://www.nswbusinesschamber.com.au/Issues/Issues/Workforce-Skills/Support-students-in-your-community-and-help-build
OECD - preparing students for the changing economy http://www.oecd.org/edu/EDUCATION%20POLICY%20OUTLOOK%20AUSTRALIA_EN.pdf
In regards to the Navigating Policy subject, I have provisionally developed the following objectives:
Explore as many readings to formulate my own opinion about discourse with Work Ready Policies and Traditional Post Industrial Education.
Analyse how policy will effect the implementation of ShareOnesLearning.
Engage in conversation about how to enact change with current policies and how to influence discourse with new policy.
Understand how policy process works and what barriers may we may face along the way.
Enter conversations with those who have influenced policy writing on a larger scale. Maybe even OECD or United Nations Policy. It would be interesting and motivating to pick their brains.
